Tracey contacted Gem’s Cats because she needed reliable support for her two house cats, Quinny and Asa while she was away. The main concern was Quinny’s diabetic care, as he needed insulin injections twice a day, 12 hours apart, alongside feeding, wellbeing checks and regular enrichment visits to help keep both cats happy and settled at home.
What Quinny & Asa Needed
Quinny’s diabetes meant his care routine had to be followed carefully and consistently. Insulin injections needed to be given at the correct times, and Tracey needed someone confident, calm and experienced enough to manage this while also keeping both cats settled at home.
Asa and Quinny are house cats with the run of the home, so it was important they could remain in their familiar surroundings rather than being moved to a cattery. For longer trips, Tracey also needed evening, overnight and morning care, giving the cats extra company and reassurance while she was away.

Gem’s Cats provided a combination of enrichment visits and overnight sitting, depending on the length of Tracey’s time away. During visits, Gem was able to feed the cats, check on their wellbeing, provide companionship and enrichment, and administer Quinny’s insulin injections twice daily as required.
Because Quinny was comfortable eating during the injection, Gem was able to make the process as calm and stress-free as possible. Her gentle, confident approach helped maintain Quinny’s medical routine while allowing both cats to stay relaxed in their familiar home environment.
For longer periods away, Gem also stayed overnight, helping Asa and Quinny maintain a familiar evening, overnight and morning routine. Daily messages and photographs were sent to Tracey, keeping her updated and reassured throughout the booking.

Tracey was able to go away knowing that Quinny’s diabetic care was being handled properly and that both cats were safe, comfortable and well looked after in their own home. The regular updates, photographs and reliable care gave her peace of mind, especially during longer trips.
